Biography

Personal life

Milson was born in Brisbane, Australia in 1969. His father is British who moved to Australia from Lancashire in the 1950's, and his mother is Australian. His grandfather, Jim, was well known on the Australian TV commercial circuit from the late 1950's, and his grandmother, Elsie, wrote many Jingles for TV and was a budding writer herself.

Growing up in Kedron, (a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland), Milson attended local schools, Kedron State Primary, then Kedron High School then on the decision of his father, he attended Wavell High School. From a teenager he started to read the workings of master horror writer H.P.Lovecraft and found a love for writing himself.

 

Early Writing Career

In 1989, Milson started to develop a love for writing and while living with his sister and her family in a 3 bedroom cottage farm house on the outskirts of Winchelsea, Victoria. In that cottage house he wrote 26 short stories, one of which was titled Shack of Evil. A nine page story which was the base for what was to become Rise Of The Darkness. Shack of Evil was originally based on a series of Hauntings in a small town, which drew a definate comparison to Winchelsea.

After he left Winchelsea, Victoria, he returned to Brisbane and put his writing career on hiatus.

It was not until 1994 when he took one of those short stories and turned it into a two-part novel, titled The Chosen One, which was based on his earlier short story, Shack Of Evil.

After he had finished what was a two-part, 300 page book, he decided to ask for a review and critique from family members.

After a less than favorable review Milson put his writing career on hiatus again and began working in Marketing and Telemarketing

 

Family life

Milson has one son, David Lindley, named after his great grandfather, Clement Lindley Wragge. When Milson is not writing novels and screenplays, or working in marketing he travels between Europe, North America and Australasia.

 

Interests

C.A. Milson enjoys baseball, soccer, and his taste in music ranges from Alien Ant Farm to ZZTop, but he holds a particular like for Rock Music and Australian artists and bands such as John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, AC/DC, Dragon and Uncanny X-Men

Current Writing Career

It was when Milson was living in Auckland, New Zealand in 2007 when he started to search for a publisher again and later in that same year he landed his first book deal with Amira Press, a P.O.D. American Publisher, who agreed to publish his debut novel, The Chosen.

In 2009, Milson changed publishers and the full version of The Chosen was re-released by Lulu.com as Rise of The Darkness in May 2009. Rise Of The Darkness was released in Hardcover, Paperback and digital formats and included characters and scenes that were previously cut from the first novel.

In 2010 Milson Co-founded ASJ Publishing, a small publishing company that helps first-time authors get published

In 2011 Milson plans to film a series of short films.

The writings of C.A.Milson have been described by reviewers as: A must read for Stephen King fans, C.A. has shown he has what it takes to stand among his peers, and A thrillride from the first drop of ink.

2008 – In the Preditors & Editors Poll, was voted 17th place for Best New Authors; His debut novel Rise Of The Darkness came in 37th place
2009 – Rise of The Darkness made it's debut at the Frankfurt Book Fair, where it was selected by Literary Agency C.A.Link (The same agency that sold the book rights for J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.)
2009 – Came in 5th place for Best Authors of 2009 in the Preditors & Editors Poll.
2009 – Rise Of The Darkness was voted in the Top 5 of Best Horror novels for 2009 in the Preditors & Editors Poll.
2009 – C.A.Milson's popularity in the Philippines is growing as his name was the answer to one of their trivia questions on their national game show.
2010 – Rise Of The Darkness was exhibited at the Beijing Book Fair by C.A.Link, where the book rights are currently in negotiations for sale with a reputable Chinese Publisher for the book to be published in Mandarin and sold in bookstores across Asia.
2010 – Nominated for the Aurealis Award
2010 – Rise Of The Darkness was adapted into an Audiobook and will soon be released on iTunes and Audiobooks.com
2010 – Rise Of The Darkness is being adapted into a Graphic Comic Series.
2010 – Book rights for his second novel, Bloodline Of Darkness, are currently in negotiations.
